The Reynolds Foundation (TRF) took part in the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium 2025, organized by SALT and Kraken, contributing to a high-level panel discussion titled “Philanthropy’s Freedom Deficit.”

The panel addressed a pressing reality: only 2% of philanthropic giving in the United States is currently directed toward initiatives that defend freedom and democracy. Panelists agreed that this gap must be narrowed if philanthropy is to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Representing TRF, Álvaro Salas-Castro, President of the Foundation, joined Noemi (Mimi) Salas-Boyer, CEO of Demo Lab Foundation (Demo Lab), and Céline Assaf-Boustani, President of the Human Rights Foundation (HRF). Together, they explored how philanthropy can strengthen its role in defending democracy and freedom worldwide, particularly at the intersection of finance, technology, and human rights.

“Freedom and democracy are under increasing pressure, and philanthropy cannot remain on the sidelines. We must mobilize resources, ideas, and partnerships to expand the conditions for sustainable freedom,” said Álvaro Salas-Castro during the session.

The Reynolds Foundation thanks the organizers of the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium for creating a space where leaders in finance, technology, and civil society can come together to advance a shared agenda for freedom.

This participation reinforces TRF’s mission: to invest in people, projects, and partnerships that defend and expand the conditions for sustainable freedom.
